The 4-day Marrakech desert tour starts with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains, passing Berber villages and reaching the Tizi n’Tichka Pass for panoramic views. A visit to the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou is a highlight, showcasing traditional Moroccan architecture. After exploring the kasbah, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” before arriving in the Dades Valley for an overnight stay in a cozy guesthouse.
On day two, explore the Todra Gorges, with its towering canyon walls, before heading to Erfoud, famous for fossils. Arriving at Merzouga, your desert adventure begins with a camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes, followed by a traditional Moroccan dinner and Berber music at your desert camp. Spend the night under the stars in a comfortable tent.
The third day starts with a sunrise camel ride or 4×4 transfer back to Merzouga, followed by a drive through Rissani, a historic town, and onward to Alnif, Tazarine, and Nkob. Continue through the lush Draa Valley, rich with palm trees and ksour, before arriving in Zagora for the night, staying in a peaceful riad or guesthouse.
On the final day of the 4-day Marrakech desert tour, the return journey begins with a relaxed drive northward through the Draa Valley and back across the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, there’s time for photo stops, tea breaks, and optional visits to attractions such as Kasbah Tifoultoute or the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. The scenic drive allows for one last appreciation of Morocco’s dramatic terrain—from wide valleys and desert plains to terraced mountain slopes and snow-dusted peaks. By late afternoon or early evening, you’ll arrive back in Marrakech, full of memories, stories, and photographs from your desert adventure.

Itinerary
Depart early from Marrakech and head toward the High Atlas Mountains, where you’ll drive through the Tizi n’Tichka pass. As you ascend, enjoy stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The first stop of the day is Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its ancient kasbahs. After exploring this iconic site, continue the journey to Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Here, you can optionally visit the film studios or the Taourirt Kasbah, a historical gem in the region. Afterward, drive through the beautiful Valley of the Roses and then Dades Valley, where you will spend the night in a traditional guesthouse or hotel in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, continue your adventure by heading toward the Todra Gorges, a popular destination for hikers, where you’ll take a short walk between towering canyon walls. Then, continue your journey to Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils, before arriving in Merzouga, located at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Once there, switch to camels for a 1-hour trek across the golden sand dunes. As you ride, witness the breathtaking desert sunset. In the evening, arrive at your desert camp where a traditional Moroccan dinner will be served, followed by live music and stargazing around the campfire. You’ll spend the night in either a standard or luxury tent at the camp.
Wake up early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the dunes before enjoying breakfast at the desert camp. Afterward, take a camel ride or 4x4 transfer back to Merzouga village. From here, travel to Rissani, a historical town known for its lively market and the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif. Continue the journey through Alnif, Tazarine, and Nkob, before reaching the lush Draa Valley, known for its palm groves and scenic beauty. Arrive in Zagora, the gateway to the desert, where you have the option to take a short walk to witness another beautiful sunset or visit a nearby kasbah. Your accommodation for the night is in a comfortable guesthouse or riad.
After breakfast, begin the return journey toward Marrakech. Drive through the scenic Draa Valley, making stops in Agdz and other small villages along the way. Continue to Ouarzazate for an optional visit to Kasbah Tifoultoute or the famous Atlas Studios, where several films and TV shows have been filmed. Afterward, head back through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing back over the Tizi n’Tichka pass before finally arriving in Marrakech by early evening.
