AGAFAY DESERT DAY TRIP ITINERARY:

This day trip offers a perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of both the desert and the countryside. At 9:00 a.m., your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you west of Marrakech. The journey is lined with lush greenery, olive and orange groves, and passes through the small village of Ait Imour, where the route veers off the main road. From there, you will travel through a diverse landscape featuring rocky deserts, arid light brown plateaus, oases, and high hills that offer breathtaking views of the High Atlas Mountains.

Exploring Lalla Takerkoust and the Surrounding Areas

As you continue your journey, patches of green start to emerge, and soon you will return to a paved road lined with old eucalyptus trees. Eventually, you will reach the scenic Lalla Takerkoust Lake, an artificial reservoir built to generate electricity for Marrakech. From there, the road leads through the Nfis Valley, passing small hills alongside the dam before taking you through Berber villages, where you will have the chance to visit a local Berber family home.

The route continues toward Ouirgane, taking you through forests and traditional salt pools before arriving in Asni, a charming town known for its vibrant Saturday market and stunning views of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. After a short stop, the journey proceeds along another scenic route leading to the Imlil Valley.

A Guided Hike and Traditional Lunch

Upon arrival in Imlil, you will set off on a short guided hike through picturesque Berber villages. This walk lasts between one to two hours, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of the valley. After the hike, you will return to a guesthouse for a delicious traditional lunch in a peaceful setting.

Camel Ride and Return to Marrakech

Later in the afternoon, you will drive to Azerg Moulay Brahim, where you will take a short break before enjoying a brief camel ride along the river. Finally, the journey concludes as you head back to Marrakech, carrying with you wonderful memories of the landscapes, cultural encounters, and unique experiences of the day.
